Severe cracking to hinges causing boards to be loose. Pages and plates have light tanning and foxing throughout. Previous owner's inscriptions to front free endpaper and half-title page. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Heavy tanning to spine with light sunning to edges. Slight crushing to spine ends with splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed. Wear marks overall.

Accompanied by two Gurkha soldiers, Conway climbed twenty-one peaks, including Mont Blanc, the Jungfrau and Grossglockner, and traversed thirty-nine mountain passes.
