Philadelphia, PA: Printed for P. Byrne, by Fry and Kammerer, 1807. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1807 publication which appears to have been rebound with cloth in the late 19th to early 20th century. Tan cloth boards are soiled and darkened. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. Paper is toned due to age and spotting and foxing is present throughout. Front and rear pastedown shows the signature of Eugene Mackey - the early 20th century attorney who had the books rebound. Title page also contains Mr. Mackey's signature along with signature of one of the original owners: D. G. Yost. Second front end page (opposite title page) has a thin spot from either a flaw in the paper or wear something was eraised. Upper right corner has a rectangle cut out where somebody removed a signature. Note: this is the original publication from the 1800s and not a modern reprint. This is volume 4…

Philadelphia, PA: Printed for the Reported, by J. Ormrod, 1799. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1799 publication which appears to have been rebound with cloth in the late 19th to early 20th century. Front pastedown contains the law publisher business label of Geo. T. Bisel Company along with the stamped name of the Pennsylvania attorney who likely had the book rebound. Tan cloth boards are soiled and darkened. Leather labels on spine are brittle and cracked with numerous chips missing. Internal binding of text pages are tight and secure and only issue with binding is a small crack starting on the front board. Pages are toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present. Only handwriting found in the book is on the top of the title page which bears the signature of the original owner: James Booth. No other markings found, not ex-library. Rebound in modern tan cloth with black and crimson leather spine label stamped in gilt. Ex-library [Library of Congress] with usual library markings. Boards are worn with loss of cloth around edges, general staining and sunning. Additional loss at top of front joint, but binding is sound. Signs of dampstaining to top top edge of text block. Pages toned and stiffened with dampstaining to final 20 pages. Also bound too tightly towards rear, slightly affecting text. Good but serviceable Alexander James Dallas was the first U.S. Supreme Court Reporter and would later serve as Treasury Secretary under James Madison. [Sabin 18313].

Tan buckram with black leather spine label stamped in gilt. Ex-library [Library of Congress]. Ownership stamp of George S. Graham to front and rear pastedowns. Graham was a member of Congress from Pennsylvania and prosecutor of the infamous serial killer H.H. Holmes. Over the bookplate at front is a Library of Congress sticker, and on front free endpaper a "Surplus / Duplicate" LOC stamp. Alexander James Dallas was the first U.S. Supreme Court Reporter and would later serve as Treasury Secretary under James Madison. This volume covers cases from 1754 to 1789. Boards are worn with exposure to extremities and spine. Moderate soiling and staining boards. Binding is sound with hinges reinforced with cloth tape. First few gatherings loose but holding.

Boards have light shelf wear overall with edge wear, bumping to corners, small abrasions, moderate rubbing to spines (with all spine labels lost) and light chipping to head and tail. Volume I has moderate wear along front hinge with front cover detached, Volume II has light cracking along front hinge (partial split, but secure), Volume IV has light toning and sunning with discoloration to front board.
