G+. **Daniel "Dan" Crawford (1870 � 1926), also known as 'Konga Vantu', was a Scottish missionary of the Plymouth Brethren in central-southern Africa...he did much to travel around the Luapula valley founding and encouraging other outposts of the Garenganze Evangelical Mission. He studied African languages and sought to understand African customs and traditional rule, and was a frequent visitor to chiefs such as Mwata Kazembe. When the latter rebelled against and was defeated by the British, Crawford and his mission colleagues had a role in persuading the chief to accept the inevitable and to achieve a working relationship with the colonial authorities. Dan Crawford (1870-1926) was a Scottish missionary who spent 37 years in Africa and identified unusually strongly with Africans and their culture. Here he retraces David Livingstone's last journey, sharing a wealth of information about the land and the people.

First US edition of Back to the Long Grass My Link with Livingstone by Dan Crawford in the original publisher's cloth binding. Undated, dated through Jisc. Illustrated with thirty four monochrome plates and three maps. Collated, complete. An interesting autobiographical account of travel experiences in Africa and the author's familiarity with the nineteenth century missionary. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The hinges are strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some slight age toning. Very Good
