Navy blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt illustration to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated slip case (wraparound) again a reproduction of an author's drawing. Title says it all. Minor rubbing of the book corners with perhaps a smidge of fading to the back strip. Daniell's aquatints are beautifully reproduced here in full color . The slipcase depicts the entrance to the port at Portreath , Cornwall . The title page shows the light-house at Flamboro' Head . The binding image shows a detail of In Fingal's Cave , Staffa . Bound in full buckram with the design by David Eccles . A beautiful treatment by The Folio Society .

London: Longman & Co, & W. Daniell. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1814. Presumed 1st Edition. Soft. A lovely Aquatint plate (print) with original hand-colouring from Daniells' "Voyage Round Great Britain". The Image, within a very light wash-coloured border, measures 165mm x 240 mm, (6.5 " x 9. 5") . There are quite a few tears to the plain broad margin that surrounds the image and a longer older repaired tear to the bottom right corner of the plate. This has been 'repaired' to the rear of the print with masking tape and the tear runs into the very bottom corner of the image just marginally affecting the grey/blue of the sea and the border. Easily fixed and in a mount or a frame this would be unnoticable. The Publishers details beneath the image are partially obscured/rubbed but most of that line including the date is visible.
