Exterior shows mild soiling and scuffing along with corner bumps, creases and wear. Pages are toned due to age and scattered foxing is present though mainly limited to the end pages. No signatures or bookplates present. No hinge cracks are present boards but a couple areas show very minor pulling (example pages 194/195). Stated fifth edition on the copyright page.

Text block is stained along the fore-edge. Text is free of marks save for a note present on the title page noted who the author is. Binding tight and solid. The first three editions were published anonymously. The second and third editions have six engraved plates of views in addition to the three fly plates. These are omitted from the 4th & 5th editions which have extra vignettes of views. The author revised this before his death. The fourth edition was edited and enlarged by John Davy, his brother.
