From Zine Wiki: The Floating Bear was a newsletter that ran from 1961 to 1971, edited in New York, NY, U.S.A., first by Diane di Prima and Leroi Jones and then later, by issue 25, by Diane alone. Published nearly every month and distributed by mailing list only, it was a fantastic platform for several schools of writing to come together, including the Beat writers, the New York School, Black Mountain and other revolutionary writers of that time. Later, after issue 28, when di Prima relocated to Topanga, CA, it featured some of the San Francisco Renaissance writers. This weighty carrier of words held the works of Frank O Hara, Michael McClure, Ed Dorn, Charles Olson, Joel Oppenheimer, Diane Levertov, Phillp Whalen, Jack Spicer, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Creeley, Robert Duncan, William S. Cover art by Michael Bowen. This copy not folded. With some odd chipping to the front cover and lacking the blank rear cover page. Some edgewear and light toning to covers.

Paper toned more than other issues of this magazine, as often seen. Rear page loose from staples. Otherwise a solid very good copy. Includes work by Wieners, Jack Spicer, John Reed, Sanders Russell and more. This issue printed at the Detroit Artists' Workshop Press. This copy not folded. Address sticker on final page mostly peeled away.

Concludes with the plea "We are, as ever, badly in need of money for Bears. This isn't addressed to those of you who have done more than your share, but to you guys who have as yet done nothing: PLEASE SEND WHATEVER YOU CAN, AS SOON AS YOU CAN.
