This tasteful Foulis pocket-sized edition is beautifully and uniformly bound in full polished brown calf of the period, spines feature twin red morocco labels, and gilt-tooled musical and floral motifs and repeated gilt rules, marbled endpapers (spines have minor wear and some trifling nicks, boards have light wear; there is some trifling dampstaining to uppermost text corners). A delightful and attractive little set in period dress, entirely unrestored. PROVENANCE: From the library of of William Hughes of Widcombe, with his neat ownership inscriptions in each volume.

Contemporary calf boards, more modern calf spine rebacking with original red title label attached thereto. xviii + 241 pp., 9 full page plates, some engraved by Bartolozzi, and also head and tail vignettes. Text pages very clean, except for offsetting, which is considerable in pages facing full page plates. Some plates are foxed in margins. A few tissue guards survive. All edges gilt. Some shelfwear to edges and corners of leather, with leather chipped or rubbed in corners. Overall, attractive volume and VG.
