Salem: Cushing & Appleton, 1809 Bound in full period calf, 511 pp plus errata and contents very good or better. Leather is still handsome though spine label is missing and front board detached and with wear to the fore edge, rear board cracked at joint. Also first front end paper is detached. Text is largely unread with the rear end papers lightly foxed. But for the detached front board and endpaper and weak rear hinge this is an exceptional copy and could be relatively easily restored.

Leather covers and spine are shelf and edge worn. Light to moderate scattered foxing to the text. A few of the pages have heavy foxing and toning. A fair or better copy. Previous owner inscription on the right front flyleaf and on the front blank end sheet.

Front and rear inner hinges reinforced, wear to corners and chipping to spine, some internal browning. Overall, a very good copy. A biographical dictionary of the first settlers in New England. .

The only edition of this early New England-focused biographical effort, bound in the original papered spine & boards, with the remnants of the title label. 8vo, 511pp, (1 errata), and uncut, unopened copy. Text block tanned, a little early and late damp marking. Spine worn but nevertheless, a very pleasant contemporary copy. Complete, but sold as is. Sabin 22168; Shaw & Shoemaker 17433.

Joseph Buckminster (page 88-89) is noted in the book and also written on the front pastedown the following biographical information: Great Grandfather Buckminster, Col. 1876, Essex Co,....Richard Buckminster, Limerick, NY; Drafted in War of 1812; John Buckminster (grandfather), went in Richard's place; James G.(?) Buckminster born at Limerick 1840. Memoirs of Rev. Joseph Buckminster, D.D. and of his son, Rev. Joseph Stevens Buckminster. Bound in full contemporary calf, spine ruled in gilt, red morocco spine label gilt, a bit of toning or scattered foxing, damp staining to end sheets and (oddly) to the outer margins of pages 209-219, lacks only one front blank. A very good copy.
