Top edge stained blue.Styrbjörn the Strong (Old Norse: Styrbjǫrn Sterki; died about 985) according to late Norse sagas was a son of the Swedish king Olof, and a nephew of Olof's co-ruler and successor Eric the Victorious, who defeated and killed Styrbjörn at the Battle of Fyrisvellir.A wonderful retelling of this Viking tale. Cloth to the outer extremities of the boards and the spine a little shelfworn; spine a little dulled. Outer page edges lightly browned with a touch of faint foxing. Previous owner's inscription to the front endpage.

New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1926. First US Edition/First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. The second book by the author of The Worm Ouroboros. In black cloth with gilt to illustration and type on spine. Blindstamped colophon on rear board. Top page ends tinted, but faded. Rear corners dinged and tiny spots rubbed through to bottom corners. Light wear to spine ends. Interior clean and binding solid. Small fold to bottom corner at title page where page was miscut. Jacket is price-clipped with chipping to spine ends and corners, four tears 3/4 to 1 1/2 inch to heel of spine and top and bottom of rear panel and several shorter tears to edges. A couple tape repairs to tear at top rear panel and bottom of spine. Rear flap separated and front flap mostly, but still holding on. Small hole to latter and rear panel of jacket. Some light smudges/marks.

Pages tanned with lovely design motif to endpapers. Light foxing to same and first couple pages. Edge tears to Table of Contents and dedication pages where pages were attached. Clean with solid binding. Charming period publisher promotional postcard and advertisent pamphlet. Deckle edge. Scarce in Jacket which is unclipped(7s. 6d. net) with small chips at spine ends, corners and one to top of rear panel which also has 1/2 inch jagged tear with creasing. Some spotting and tanning(mostly at spine).
