Color fold out birds eye map in fine contain, text is free of marking with clean pages. No dust jacket. Note this edition has the same printed date on the copyright and title pages, 1913. Oddly, there is no stamping to the heel of spine where the publishers' name would be located (reprint?).

All of the white is gone from the spine lettering. About half of the white is gone on the front cover lettering. Covers have some open wear on corners, spine top edge ha two half inch tears. Also half inch white spot on front cover. Text is clean/tight with minor page browning. All b/w photos/illustrations accounted for. Nicely folded tipped-in 7 1/2x16 1/2 colored frontispiece bird's eye illustration of the Panama Cana still intact. One outside corner does have creasing. Free gift wrapping, card and drop shipping. On page 387 there are five points of authority in this book listed with detail; these are also listed in smaller print opposite the title page. There is wear at the head and tail of the spine and the title and author on the spine in gilt is quite worn. There is a name stamp on the top of page 169. Page 23 has a dog ear at the outer top of the page measured diagionally about 1 3/4 inches. Still a very readable copy, that makes one sad at what Jimmy Carter gave away that so many Americans worked so hard and so long to create for the benefit and future of America and that we bought and paid for fair and square.
