At the time of writing, the author was one of the few remaining experts on the subject, having managed the family firm since 1940. Regarded by many printers & artists as the finest English papermakers, the Green family began making paper at the Hayle Mill in Maidstone in 1810 and continued until the firm closed in 1987.
