With a foreword by Blanche K. Reigle and the introduction by John D. Tyler. Includes a bw photo of the J.W. Epley Blacksmith Shop, originally located near Gettysburg, PA but moved to the Landis Vally Farm Museum in 1968. Epley was a master farrier. Blacksmiths, however didn't make only horse shoes, and this exhibit included all manner of other practical items as well as decorative wares: shutter fasteners, pie cutters, Conestoga wagon tool boxes, hunting knives, meat hooks, andirons, beautiful hinges, and more. An enlightening look at life in the smithy.
