CATCH-22, Franklin Library, 1978, first edition thus, first limited and first illustrated edition, very fine in full leather binding with gold-gilt lettering and decoration, raised spine, all edges gold-gilt, etc. One of an unknown quantity SIGNED by the author, this copy specially SIGNED by the author on the title page as well (indicating that this copy was actually in the authors possession for a brief time. After all, isn't this what you want when you purchase a SIGNED copy of any book ?!?!? All other copies of this edition which have just tipped-in signature pages most probably means that the author and the book never actually came into contact). Illustrated by Robert Parker with a new 2 page introduction by Heller written specially for this edition.

In a near fine unclipped wrapper a few light handling marks to the rear panel. Five reviews to the rear panel. A really lovely example of the dust wrapper. Accompanying the book is a typescript with the opening line: "It was love at first sight", SIGNED in black ball point by Joseph Heller. 8.5 x 11" - headed 'The Texan' being Chapter One of 'Catch 22'.
