Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing, mild to end-papers and text-block edges. Heavy cracking at the hinges with exposed binding material. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout however binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Peeling and loss to spine leather. Mild crushing to spine ends. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains.

Ward, Lock & Co Ltd, 1111-01-01. Hardcover. Acceptable. No dust jacket - Names to first inner page. Pages are tanned. Pages are not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine is scuffed. There is creasing/wear to the cover. Wear includes patches of top layer missing.

Approx 1860's .595 PP. Hardback quarter Suede or leather. Faded gilt decoration, sunned Leather spine. Inch split on top sides of spine but binding overall strong and solid. Four raised bands and gilt on somewhat scuffed spine. There are some loose pages in a couple of places in the book but none missing as far as I can see. There are engravings throughout the volume. The frontispiece illustration is clean and unfaded, and with its tissue guard in place. Text framed by red graphic lines throughout volume. All the type is unfaded and legible. There are no stamps or other attachments. I've found no writing in the body of the book. Happy to answer any questions and will gladly email a scan of book.

Leather modestly rubbed along edges and at corners, toned to a medium brown on spine panel. Front flyleaf neatly excised, also lacking approx. 50% of adjacent front blank, the remainder bearing a period gift inscription, dated Sept. 1841 at Spartanburg: "A tribute to the worth / of Miss Susan Jane Smith / of S.C. from her friend / Levi W. Lawler / of Ala." Interior shows scattered foxing, generally light, firm binding..
