Publisher's price of $5.00 and 7.00 on DJ flaps of two volumes with the other being price clipped. DJs protected by a brand new, clear, acid-free mylar cover. We add mylar covers to all books with DJs to preserve the DJs and add luster to magnify their beauty. Autobiographical fiction about the seven years of Miller's life before leaving the United States for France, a period he dubbed his, "crucifixion". Mild shelf wear to slipcase with taped tear to top edge above pastedown title image. All jackets are protected in mylar sleeves with faint shelf wear around the edges. Large scratch to front cover of Plexus from fore edge to middle of cover. Very faint discoloration to boards with fading to top edge of cloth spine wrap. Corners slightly bumped. Bindings are strong, spines are straight and all pages are clean and unmarked though faintly tanned.

No other markings. All are otherwise crisp with no flaws. Jackets all price intact, bright and fresh. Plexus has small closed tear. No other flaws to jacket or books. All cased in publishers slipcase which has insect nibbling along edges and one neat transparent tape repair. Hard to find in this condition. . First American Edition. Hardccover. Each of the three volumes is inscribed and dated by Henry Miller on the front flyleaf: "a great pleasure to meet a charming woman of France with whom I do no always see eye to eye, but better heart to heart." A fictionalized account of Henry Miller's life in Brooklyn as he falls for his second wife, June, and struggles to become a writer, leading up to his departure for Paris in 1928. The title comes from a sentence near the end of Miller's Tropic of Capricorn (1934): "All my Calvaries were rosy crucifixions, pseudo-tragedies to keep the fires of hell burning brightly for the real sinners who are in danger of being forgotten." Octavo, three volumes. Original light brown paper-covered boards, with a red stamping. The dust jackets are a bit toned along the spine and folds, with a half-inch chip to the spine head of Plexus, an unobtrusive label shadow to each front panel, and some minor shelfwear; otherwise a very good set.
