No reader's marks except September 1884 inscription and later mother to daughter inscription on FFEP. Front cover detached. Chipping to spine. Three (of four) raised bands and red titling panel remain. Chips, edgewear. Gilt still bright.

Gift inscription in violet ink to front fly-leaf (appears to be an association copy signed by publisher and dated in Boston, Sept 15 '83, with inscription to Boston architect Henry Kenway.) Houghton's own bookplate mounted to reverse of front free end paper. Text block is tightly bound; bright, clean interior. 8vo, 61 pages.
