George Alfred Henty (1832 –1902) was a prolific English novelist and war correspondent.

A tight, bright example, aforementioned 1897 gift insctiption front fre endpaper, some offsetting to the endpapers.

Fireside series. 360 pp. plus ads. 5 illustrations, no date, appears to be late 1800's. Story opens with Rupert Holliday taking fencing lessons from M.Dessin, newly arrived from the Court of France. The year was 1702. Rupert goes on to achieve a great reputation as a horse soldier in the Nine Years War

In tan cloth boards with black line shipping themed drawings on front and gilt titles, very good, clean, tight covers, but slightly shelf-worn. Back cover has gilt crest for 'School Board for London. The spine is tight, with gilt titles and illustrations similar to the front cover. End papers are slightly tanned, with book plate for 'School Board for London on front paste down end paper. The cut edges are tanned. Very good text block, tight and only lightly tanned. With 8 full page illustrations (including frontispiece with tissue guard) and 5 fold-out plans of battle fields.
