Brown Pen&Ink cover art. 23 cm. From author's Foreword: "Today's commonplace becomes tomorrow's subject for research". He also informs that his subtitle comes from a child's remark, retold within the text. A piano tuner's skill-set is not common knowledge, and typically people will remark thoughtlessly when they are ignorant of the skill and training required in any profession. Howard Chase was based in New Hampshire and traveled to the pianos he tuned. This is an autobiographical account by a tradesman who became much in demand. He had begun studying piano-tuning in 1938 when skilled practitioner Edgar M Quint of Concord N.H. agreed to take him on as a pupil.
