Funk & Wagnalls Company, 1945. Hardcover. Very Good/No DJ. Vintage 2 Volume Hardcover Set, Vol 1, 1945 - 424 pages. Vol 2, 1945 - 424 pages plus a supplement of 62 pages. Both volumes are Very Good, minus the DJ's. Minor shelf/edge wear to black cloth spines with silver titles over patterned cloth boards - corners sharp with wear to the tips. Vol 2 has a slight shelf lean. Endpapers have some offsetting. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Loaded with illustrations , diagrams and photos. One of the classics of the subject. All the great post-war custom gunsmiths had this set in their libraries and they were well used. When you look at a custom rifle from the late 40's through the 60's, you can be sure that the knowledge from this set was a factor in producing it. Highly recommended. A very respectable set, minus the DJ's. LOC SSM-08

Howe 1934;" both volumes have ghosts of book plates on front paste downs; otherwise clean and unmarked anywhere on strong glossy unaged paper; many photos and drawings; bindings tight; textured boards with silver gilt decoration and lettering (on spines) have lightly bumped corners, some rubbing on crowns of spines. 10-3/4" x 8".
