undated, According to the British Library this book was first published in the UK in 1930, though some listings refer to 1929. In very good condition with gilt titles and decoration to spine. Minor shelf wear only with a couple of small marks to rear board. Internally clean throughout. With 36 black and white plates.Huddleston was a journalist for the Times after the end of the First World War and travelled through Europe extensively in the 1920's reporting on various matters during this period of reconciliation and rebuilding. The book gives details of many of his meetings and conferences that he attended. A fascinating insight of Europe at the time largely oblivious of the troubles that were to blight the 1930's and bring about the Second World War.

Sisley Huddleston (28 May 1883 – 14 July 1952) was a British journalist and writer. After editing a British forces newspaper in the First World War, he was resident in Paris after the war until the 1930s, writing for The Times (London) and the Christian Science Monitor. In his Europe in Zigzags (1929) he supported the Pan-Europe manifesto of Richard Nikolaus Graf Coudenhove-Kalergi.War Unless (1933) was a "deliberately alarmist" call for revision of the Treaty of Versailles. During the Second World War he was in Vichy France, taking French citizenship, and writing in sympathy with the Vichy regime. He interviewed Marshal Philippe Pétain. He was imprisoned by the Free French in 1944, as a Vichy collaborator. He wrote a number of works, critical in particular of the Allied handling of the Liberation of France, and of the diplomacy of the politicians. (Wikipedia).
