Library binding, solid. Ex-library book with the usual stamps in the usual places. The interior pages have some damage (missing corners on some pages), but no text is lost. Pages are also tanned, but still very readable. In good overall reading condition in spite of the obvious flaws.Acceptable

(Boston), Volume 2 only (of 2 volumes), 4 1/2 x 6 5/8 inches tall hardbound, marbled paper-covered boards over leather spine and tips, v, 304 pp. Covers rubbed and edgeworn, especially to tips, with a 1/2-inch chip to the top of the backstrip. Inside, mild age toning to paper. A couple of pages with light stains. 1 1/2-inch closed tear to rear free-endpaper. Otherwise, a very good copy. Contains: The Fan, a Poem in Three Books; The Shepherd's Week, in Six Pastorals; Acis and Galatea, a Serenata in Two Parts; 12 Epistles (letters); 5 Eclogues; Songs and Balads; 3 Elegies, 6 Tales and 12 'Miscellanies.' John Gay (1685-1732) was an English poet and dramatist and member of the Scriblerus Club. He is best remembered for The Beggar's Opera (1728), a ballad opera.
