Bickers And Son, 1893. Hardback. Very Good. Hardback edition, 1893, in full leather binding with no jacket. In overall very good used condition with only minor signs of age, handling and storage - tan leather boards, the spine with five readied bands, gilt tooling and black leather gilt title label, slightly rubbed with light crack to front spine fold. Binding tight and appears little read. Internally clean, no annotation - school prize inscription to reverse of front endpaper dated 1898; marbled page-ends have faded but text and illustrations bright and clear throughout. Photographs available. Not an old library book.

Produced as a school prize from "Falconbury School." No clues given as to the location of this school but possibly London? Marbled endpapers & external edges. 1915 presentation bookplate attached to fep. Otherwise excellent internally, with little or no sign of use. Lots of b/w engravings throughout the entire volume. These are all accompanied by tissue-guards. These are notorious for being acidic, which causes foxing - yet there is none. Strong binding. A lovely copy. **Leather newly dressed..

Gilt edges to textblock. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Cracking to front hinge with netting exposed. Binding loose. Dedication to front free endpaper. Some scribbling in pencil on two pages at front. Boards have heavy shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces heavily tanned. Spine heavily worn and deteriorating. Gilt lettering dulled. Some additional marks and staining to surfaces. Book has slight forward lean.

Bickers & Son, London 1883 (first published in 1788). 18.0 x 12.0cms, 400pp, b/w illusts, very good hardback with decorated boards This was first published in London in 1788 and includes Klippis's letter to George III 13 June 1788. The book has accounts of the three voyages (1768-71, 1772-75, and 1776-79) a well as an account of Cook's character, the effects of his voyages and his service.
