Two large engraved fold-out maps, 2 engraved frontispieces. Lamartine remains the most renowned Orientalist in Lebanon and the Middle East; he was also instrumental in the founding of the Second Republic of France, Extensive Index. Modest, intermittent text toning, more pronounced first few and last leaves, raised bands, spines lettered in gilt.
