Inscribed by the author to "Elisabeth Schnack, from Mary Lavin, March 1964" on the front free endpaper, and with the recipient's Zurich address stamp below in green ink. Elisabeth Schnack (1899-1992) was a literary scholar of Swiss origin, and a prolific translator of English literature into German, with a particular interest in Irish writers, her exchange year while a student at the University of Geneva having been spent in Dublin. Octavo. Original black board, spine lettered and decorated in gilt. With dust jacket. Spine gently rolled, front board a touch bowed. A very good copy in the dust jacket slightly rubbed on the rear panel and with a faint patch of damp-staining to the spine.
