First volume has two inch split to lower edge of spine and has loose hinges. Spine of second volume is wrinkled and front endpaper is partially stuck to front board. Pages of both volumes generally clean but for occasional foxing to plates. . Illustrated with numerous woodcuts by Fitch and Branston and steel engravings by Adlard.
