Mary Livermore, born Mary Ashton Rice, (1820 – 1905) was an American journalist, abolitionist, and advocate of women's rights. Illustrated with portraits and 120 engravings. i-xxxiv; 35-730 pp. plus 2 advertisements for other publications from A.D. Worthington & Co. Publishers. One of the blank end pages is missing in front, and there is a niche taken out of the blank end pages in back. Otherwise this book is in quite good condition.

Clean unmarked copy, front hinge cracked but holding, three pages at front loose but still attached [seems to be a common fault with this title], gilt titles and decorations on spine nice and bright, leather very nice with just a touch of rubbing at edges, overall a handsome copy and rather scarce in leather.

Bound into 1/2 black leather, gilt spine labels and decorations. Early printing with 1897 on copyright page and 1898 on title page. There is a damp stain to the bottom of both of the frontispieces, not quite reaching the illustrations themselves. The stain is also present on the foredge but besides the frontispieces does not effect the interior. Some scuffing to edges.

I has samples of the three different bindings inside the covers, along with a representative sample of the pages of the book. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ENTIRE CONTENTS!! This was only intended to get folks to order a copy of the book. There is space in the back for customers to sign up for purchase, with space to indicate which binding they wished. The only defect is a rubbing through the cloth at the bottom center of the spine, about 1/4" high. This sample is in the red binding, with brigh gilt title.; Salesman's Dummy; 6x9 .
