All edges marbled, marbled endpapers, Small bookbinders sticker (A. Birdsall) inside front cover and tiny former owner's name with a date of 1875 on the first blank endpaper. There is foxing on the illustrated title page and frontis. Several full page illustrations within the book have foxing. The text is bright and clear.

P. Nimmo, Hay & Mitchell, Edinburgh, 576 pages.Green cloth boards. Gilt lettering to spine. Patterning to spine and front board. Library reference number written on spine. Tears at top and bottom of spine. Boards and spine are a bit scuffed and a little marked but have retained much of their colour. Signs of shelf-wear and rubbing at edges. Corners bumped and a little torn. Binding holding, though a little strained in places and substantial cracking to inner hinges, especially upper part of front one, but textblock still attached. Page edges deckled but neat. They are also a little browned. Foxing to endpapers and a little to foxing and marking throughout, with gift inscription to second front endpaper but pages generally clean, no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures… Leer más
