Dust jacket has a large chip out of top edge of the front panel and minor overall wear, but is now wrapped. Dust jacket price not clipped. Blue cloth boards with a white paper spine label. 135 pages. First Edition. Light erasure smudge at the top corner of the front free endpaper.

Moderate binding lean, light surface wear to cover cloth with a slight nick along lower rear joint and minor rubbing/loss to spine extremities, spine a bit sunned with label somewhat tanned and showing just a sliver of loss along one side. 135 pp. Exceedingly scarce 1st edition (which consisted of only 1,600 copies) issued by Porpoise Press, an imprint founded by the author (George Malcolm Thomson) in 1922, and astonishingly not reprinted until 2006. Jacket has chipped spine ends and light wear elsewhere, dampstains to both panels. Cloth is marked on both sides and lower spine. Stain to edge of rear endpaper. Book's corners a bit bumped Porpoise Press was founded by the author, MacDonald/Thomson, in 1922. Surprisingly, this distillation of whisky wit was not reprinted until 2006. The malt site Whiskipedia states "MacDonald's 'Whisky' is today regarded as perhaps the first modern book on whisky and certainly the first to treat the subject from the drinker's point of view." The author promotes single malt whisky over blends and defends the interests of consumers over producers. Thomson earned the nickname of Scotland's "best-hated man" while only 28 in the '30s.
