The so called "Alabama Edition," limited to 300 copies in slipcase, of which this is number 38, tall octavo, pp. 127. Black and white illustrations. Endpapers with Margaret Mitchell monogram pattern. Very Good in the publisher's beige cloth with gilt spine title over aquamarine boards. This copy complete with facsimile letters from "Peggy" Mitchell to Henry Love Angel laid in with envelope. Editor Debra Freer has signed and numbered the slipcase and signed again on the title page. Slipcase with just a bit of shelf wear.

John Groth (b. 1908 -d. 1988 ) was a sought after illustrator and journalist, renowned as one of the leading war correspondent-illustrators of his day. He was also the first Art Director for Esquire Magazine. Groth famously illustrated a number of classics, including A Christmas Carol, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Grapes of Wrath, The War Prayer, and this LEC edition of Gone With the Wind. The two volumes are bound in blue and gray buckram in a three piece design, with colors reversed for the two volumes. The slip case is in very solid condition, with a paper pastedown title on the spine. There is some rubbing to the cover of the slipcase. #465 of 1500 copies issued, signed by Groth, who also did illustrations for an edition of The Grapes of Wrath. There are over a hundred and fifty black and white drawings and twenty-one full color illustrations. The movie has now been archived by the studio and will probably not be seen very often. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
