Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear, gilt on spine is darkened. The internal binding is good with no hinge issues at boards but there is pulling at page 102 which shows a thin line of webbing. Pages are toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present, with the end pages and pastedowns being the heaviest. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. The only handwriting found in the book is an old store price penned in the corner of the front end page. There is also some faint staining along the top edge of the last 20-30 pages in the rear pastedown shows a diagonal crease from where the rear board was stressed. This is the first American edition published in 1922.

Wear to the spine ends, rubbing at the corners, lightly bumped bottom corners, one tiny stain on the spine, and slight sun-toning to the spine and edges of the boards. Otherwise, bright and clean, tightly bound and square, with strong, sound hinges and bright unworn gilt on spine. Excellent interior with flawless pages except for a few small light stains on the first few text pages and light toning to the margins. Some browning to the endpapers from previous inserts along with previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown and signature on front endpaper..
