V111/184pp with 72 hand-coloured plates plus double page illustration of apparatus required for collecting and displaying. Both sides of second front endpaper are foxed, as is blank verso of frontis illustration. Second front endpaper carries an inscription, and rear second endpaper also foxed both sides. Board corners are sightly rubbed and rebacked spine has faded unevenly. Page 23 has horizontal 6 inch closed tear. Some faults but internally VG . Very Good. Hardback. Sixth Edition. 1890.

Morris' (1810-1893) work contains 79 hand colored plates, and a couple of black and white lithographs illustrating the tools of the trade for collecting butterflies. Each plate usually contains two or three illustrations, and is followed by a detailed description.
