Therefore it is fitting that a number of the thirty and more contributors I have assembled, and am proud to assemble, should write as well as play; morover, they have written with the authority - and, indeed, the sunny freedom - that is in their batting and bowling - and their leadership, for five of the great captains of our times are among them. The only stipulation has been that they helped to make the book one with a difference, and they have, I suggest, responded worthily. To emphasise that difference I have given importance to certain aspects of cricket and appeared to neglet others. Cloth rather faded and a little marked, very good A marvellous anthology of especially commissioned writings on the great game of cricket with contributions from, Neville Cardus, D.R. Jardine, Warner, Hobbs, Sutcliffe and others. With the editors signed presentation inscription to the front free endpaper, 'For Duncan Barnes with many happy Press-box memories of many happy summers Thomas Moult August 1935'. Moult and Barnes were both cricket journalists of great repute. A very nice association.
