The Fifth Edition with additions. 3/4 leather, five raised bands over marbled boards which are considerably rubbed. Pull out map of London at the time of Elzabeth (2 closed tears); pull out illustration of a part of London during the Great Fire of 1666. Thirteen illustrations in the text. With a large fold-out panoramic Map of 'London and Westminster in the Reign of Queen Elizabeth', (no damage just the usual fold creases) and 13 other full page engraved plates (2 images on the eighth plate). Written by Thomas Pennant, a Welsh scholar, this book is a curious work describing the characteristics of the city including major events such as the great fire of 1666. This 1790 first edition, titled simply "Of London", is filled with 12 full-page engravings depicting English portraits, architecture, and a knight's suit of armor!
