Lushly illustrated with alternating full color and gray scale full and partial page artwork by the Petershams. Boards worn through at tips, light mark of large ring to back cover, still a bright, handsome copy with neat owner's name inked on verso of front free endpaper.

True First Edition -- not the Junior Literary Guild book club reprint. Cloth backed pictorial boards. Polka dot patterned end papers. Edges rubbed, exposing boards at corners + light cover scuffs. Name in pencil on front end paper, else fine interior ~ tight, bright and unmarked. No jacket.
