Descripción:
New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1930. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good+. 8vo. [6], vii-xii, [2], 1-350, [2] pp. Quarter red cloth over grey paper boards with a paper label printed in black and green on the front board, one on the spine as well; grey topstain. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Emily Dickinson and with twenty-three plates. With a postcard from an Indiana bookseller to a young female reader who wanted to know about the price of the book laid in (the bookseller, from Portland, Maine, has left a stamp on the rear free endpaper). Pollitt's biography of Emily Dickinson tells a story of Dickinson's love for the husband of Helen Hunt Jackson, a Lieutenant Hunt. Pollitt's biography also discusses Dickinson's childhood and education, attempting to explain her famous isolation from society. Dickinson's poems are sprinkled throughout the chapters. Top textblock toned, a tiny split to each hinge; jacket is price-clipped with notable edge wear and toning to its spine panel.
