"A cowboy autobiography, preceded only by that of Siringo." Nice copy, bound in reddish-brown cloth with black stamping. Printed on fairly poor-quality paper, but in very good condition. Stamp of Great Northern Railroad News Service, $1.00, on endpaper.. .

Hardcover, although a reprint of the work, this is likely the first version in this highly decorative format. 471 pages plus adverts, including a fascinating piece on teaching the deaf to speak using "audiophones". Light shelfwear and some age toning of FFEP, all else quite good.

Chicago: Rhodes & McClure Publishing Company, 1909. A famous memoir of the American west, first published in 1888. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of a reprint edition. Dark green cloth binding with a rather spectacular decoration of a cowboy and his horse in silver within a floral border. More florality and lettering on the spine. Clean text; 471 pages, with 19 pages of publisher adverts in the rear. Profusely illustrated with woodcuts throughout. This is a popular edition, and the cheap wood-pulp paper is heavily tanned. The hinges are cracked, leading to a shaken feel. A decent-enough reading copy; but rather a common title since it was reprinted so many times, and probably not worth repair work.. Reprint Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Minus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

An addenda by Tex Bender, The Cowboy Fiddler. Illustrated throughout. Quite a few pages have a one color illustration over the type. End of the book has a detailed speech and advertisement for an audiphone. Previous owner's name in inside page. The story, romance and adventures of a life on the plains with the varied experiences as cowboy, stock owner, rancher, etc. . Very Good. Hardcover. 1903.

Frontispiece, full-page illustrations, numerous line drawings (over text portions) in various colors, decorative endpapers. Very good. Mild edgewear; inner hinges starting but expertly, archivally strengthened, thus tight. Nice later printing of this cowboy autobiography that Ramon Adams suggests "is probably the second book written about the cowboy," first published in 1886 and then undergoing a tortuous publishing history, appearing in different forms (title, pagination, illustrations) and even under different authors' names (such as the "Addenda by Tex Bender, the Cowboy Fiddler" subtitle).
