A second revision of the original from 1932. Red cloth-covered boards with a border of food words in yellow and the Purity Flour logo on the front board, 875 tested recipes. This copy has seen much use- covers are worn and soiled with matching red tape holding the spine cover as well as pencil marks- the interior is intact with spotting, soiling, and marking. All pages are present. The front gutter is cracked however the binding is holding.

Toronto: Purity Flour Mills, 1945 A second revision of the original from 1932. Very solid clean book, no marks or inscriptions. Red cloth covered boards with border of food words in yellow and the Purity Flour logo on front board, ( 875 tested recipes). Black title on spine. Very minor knocking to front tail of spine. Otherwise excellent condition.

Purity Cook Book was first published in 1923 and revised in 1932, 1937 and again in 1945.
First founded in 1905, Purity Flour (named after the "pure white" flour they produced) rose to become the largest flour milling company in Canada. In 1932, they published the Purity Cook Book which featured a variety of recipes incorporating Purity products as well as hundreds of other complementary recipes for all meals of the day. In 1937, the cookbook was revised to include more modern cooking techniques. Again in 1945, the cookbook was revised, this time to reflect more simple, economic fare appropriate for war-time cooking.
It is this 1945 war-time edition that is featured here. Harlequin 51 [51] 1950, 1st printing. (Mass market paperback) 288pp. Good to very good. The top of the spine has small tears and has been carefully repaired, the front cover has some minor creasing and a small nibble from the bottom edge, the spine has some creasing but is reasonably bright and square. This is one of the toughest Harlequins to find. (Cookbooks, Purity Flour Mills).
