Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing, mild to end-papers and text-block edges. Minor pencil marking to front free end-paper. Cracking to gutters, no damage to end papers. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Patch of sunning to front board. Unclipped jacket has heavy edge-wear with some areas of loss, heavy tears, chips and creasing. Moderate tanning to spine.

U.K.: Methuen Publishing Ltd, 1987 I Had Only Heard Of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy Due To My Child Welfare Days, But It Turns Out There Really Was A Baron Munchausen Who Told Impossible Stories About Himself And Was The Subject Of Rudolf Raspe's Book. A British Doctor Borrowed The Name To Describe The Original Syndrome In 1951. Meanwhile, John Carswell Revived And Edited The First English Version. The Illustrations By Ronald Searle Are "Absurdly And Convincingly Real" (Times Literary Supplement). This Copy, A First Thus Edition, May Well Be Unread, But It Does Have Some Flaws, Including Some Light Creasing And Both A Price Tag Pull And A Pinhead Size Hole To The Front Cover. This Moderately Thick Quarto Will Probably Incur Shipping Charges Close To Twenty Dollars Canadian.

Munchausen is a fictional German nobleman created by the German writer author in his 1785 book. The character is loosely based on a real baron, Hieronymus Karl Friedrich, Freiherr von M�nchhausen. The fictional Baron's exploits, narrated by himself, focus on his impossible achievements as a sportsman, soldier, and traveler, such as riding on a cannonball and traveling to the Moon
