Irma Rombauer [1877-1962] was and still is a major figure in American cooking. The Joy of Cooking was first issued on 1931 and is still in print. This is the war rationing edition with added chapters sugarless and sugar-saving recipes, and meat stretching, substitutes and supplementary dishes.
