These letters are from the novelist Rose Macaulay to Father Hamilton Johnson, an Anglican priest. Edited by Constance Babington Smith who was a cousin of Rose Macaulay. Both volumes have a black and white frontis. Last Letters to a Friend 1952–1958 also has four further black and white plates. Letters to a Friend 1950-1952 is bound in pink cloth with gilt titles to the spine. Dust jacket has some uneven faded and is rubbed to edges with a few faint scratches to the front. This dust jacket also has a tear and crease to the very top edge of the front and a closed tear to the back.
