Illustrated by Dudley Cleaver. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Pencil inscriptions to front endpaper and pastedown. Foxing more noticeable towards the start and end of the book and on text block edges. Tissue guard loose. A few dog-eared corners. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall. A few liquid droplet marks. Boards are slightly bowed. Gilt is bright.

New York: Hurst & Company. Very Good with no dust jacket. Hardcover. Red cloth covers, 270 pages. Wording of title on spine and front cover is "Kipling's Ballads." Spine has slight rubbing to line decorations at ends and publisher's name. .

Cover corners are bumped, edges rubbed, spine tips are bent and fraying. Gilt top page edge, else pages uncut. Pencil writing on front inside cover and front free endpaper. Front hinge broken, which has resulted in the title page and first page of contents to have separated from rest of book and caused chipping along edges.
