He traces some 50 breeds using carefully selected illustrations by superb nineteenth and twentieth century artists ranging from depictions of hounds and sporting dogs in the field to Victorian portraits of pampered pets and highly-bred favorites. Green boards with gold writing to cover and spine. Dustjacket features a painting by William Henry Hamilton Trood on the front and on the reverse by Arthur Wardle.
