Descripción:
London: Tomahawk Press, 2008. (Sheffield: Tomahawk Press 2008). This is a First Impression of the Revised Edition (originally published as a first edition in 2007). A softcover (not issued with a dustwrapper). The revised edition removes some controversial passages, which upset the Ian Fleming Will Trust and also the James Bond novelist Raymond Benson, who refused to have his foreword reprinted; it is replaced with a new introduction by Len Deighton. Formerly part of the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940), with his bookplate. Publisher's Original illustrated wrappers. With numerous illustrations. A very fine copy in As New condition signed by the Author on the title page. Looks very smart in its acetate cover. Photographs/scans available upon request.

London: Tomahawk Press, 2007. First Edition. Signed by Author. (Sheffield: Tomahawk Press 2007). This is a First Edition, First Impression from 2007). A softcover (not issued with a dustwrapper). A very fine copy in wrappers (as issued). SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE TITLE PAGE. A RARE BOOK EVEN MORE SO - SIGNED. This first edition book disappeared from the shelves in the UK following the intervention of the Ian Fleming Will Trust who forced the publishers to pulp any remaining un-sold copies of the first edition. This first edition contains reprinted court documents from the Thunderball trial which the Trust contended was an infringement of their copyright and not a matter of public record. The publishers took the view that these were public documents but did not have the financial wherewithal to challenge the request for the remaining unsold copies to be pulped. This resulted in a furore in the press (with articles in the Independent and The Sunday Times, for instance) and attracted a damning… Leer más

Sheffield: Tomahawk Press, 2007-8. ['Thunderball' film reference] FIRST EDITION [together with Revised Edition]. ASSOCIATION COPIES. Two volumes, octavos. Pp.264; pp.251, with photographs and reproductions of documents. Publisher's illustrated softcovers. Fine/as new copies. The Battle for Bond is the story of the much-discussed Thunderball dispute. In late February 2008, the book was withdrawn, and the accompanying revised edition was issued shortly after, with the controversial content removed. The official James Bond novelist Raymond Benson, who had written the opening essay, evidently before being able to read a copy of the book, quickly distanced himself from the project, refusing to allow his introduction to be included in any future publication and declining to sign any copies of the first edition in which he appears. Spy novelist Len Deighton, who had collaborated on a screenplay for an unrealised SPECTRE-based James Bond film "Warhead" with Sean Connery in 1976, wrote a new preface for the… Leer más
