The first UK edition (first printing) of the author's most celebrated book, which was issued three years earlier in the US. 8vo. 303pp. Blue cloth lettered in black at the spine and upper board. The cloth fractionally marked in places, the backstrip ends chipped and a little frayed, and with some noticeable toning to the backstrip cloth. The free endpapers lightly toned, with a touch of spotting to the title page and some tenderness to the binding at the title page. Alice Meynell's copy, with her pencilled signature to the front free endpaper. About a good copy. No dust wrapper.
