The text block is adorned with gilt edges and patterned endpapers. A tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait depicts "The Constitution and Gurriere." The pages show mild age toning and scattered light foxing, mostly visible on the preliminaries. This work includes numerous illustrations of Silliman's travels and American history.
