Faber and Faber, 1945. Hard cover. Good/Good. Jacket is slightly faded, has a few tears, and shows wide coverage of light foxing. Cover is pretty clean. Book edge and inside pages show foxing to varying degrees, small numbers of individual spots on middle pages.

Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

First U. S. Edition. A classic on the subject, well-illustrated in color and B&W, and with a helpful glossary and fold-out type specimen. Simon's work as a typographer is world famous. He was director of The Curwen Press, and edited THE FLEURON and SIGNATURE. Bound in the original blue cloth.
