All with light to moderate soiling to covers, light to moderate wear to spine ends and corners. Most with tight and sound bindings, a few with hinges cracked but still intact. The Talisman/Anne of Geierstein has front end page to contents page coming loose and appears to have binding reglued. More images upon request. Carefully packaged and bubble wrapped.

This handsome edition of The Waverly Novels, known as The Abbotsford Edition (after Sir Walter Scott's home, Abbotford House, where he died in 1832), is in Very Good condition (click on photo), even though the set was published 150 years ago. This set includes 11 of the original 12 volumes and is missing Volume 1 (, which included the novels Waverley and Guy Mannering). The books are bound in a satiny brown cloth with ornate blind-stamped Empire designs on front and rear panels. They have ornate spines as well, with gilt titles and gilt vignette drawings of knights and armour. The books have rubbed and frayed corners and spine tips. Several volumes show spine-cloth chipping, the worst being Volume 11, which also has a split seam between the spine and front panel. All volumes in publisher's brown cloth with gilt medallion portrait of Scott on the front covers, embossed gilt leaves on cover and spines, gilt lettering on spine, elaborate floral decoration in black on covers and spine, uncut pages. Each volume has a b&w frontispiece and several illustrations by different artists. . The bindings are rubbed on the surfaces and extremities, with a few that have slight fraying at the heel of the spine, some of the bottom tips are bumped, one volume (Ivanhoe) has a name on the front paste-down and the front hinge is cracked, other hinges intact and other books are free of names and appear to be unread. A nice looking reading set. . 12mo 7" - 7½" tall .

There is some rubbing and marking to the boards, and the spines are occasionally sunned, but the joints are strong and the hinges aren't cracked. The pages are extremely bright white, and clean throughout. Each vol is 18cm high, 13cm across the boards. The set stretches 155cm along the shelf.
