Gives account of the gambling indust ry and the inside story of Harold's Club in Reno. In the 60's Harold Smith used to come around, match your bet, and give you all the money; he was a character and leader in Old Reno of the 30's throu g h 60's. VG/fine. Smith, Sr. (1910-1985) was an early professional gambler and casino owner and operator who established Harold's Club in downtown Reno, Nevada in 1935. In his teens , Smith was an apprentice on the midways during which time he acquired an encyclopedic knowledge of games and the laws of chance. This book is more than an autobiography--it's an amazing account of a gigantic business, afabulos operation in hard cash and human emotions. It its height, Harold's Club employed 1100 people in round-the-clock shifts; it was the set for the 1955 movie "5 Against The House", a predecessor to "Ocean's Eleven
