Underneath this inscription is a gift inscription by Pauline Hirschfield dated May, 22, 1992. This is a monumental work of 674 pages with a selected bibliography and comprehensive index of Oklahoma Birds at the end of the volume. There is a blue speckled finish on the top edge of the pages. The pages are clean. The top edge of the covers of the work have some discoloration. The dust jacket has some chips and small tears and age spots but looks quite nice in its archival quality cover. Complete with original dustjacket: in decent shape, just slightly rubbed and moderately edge-worn now protected in a clear, removable sleeve. Contents sound and clean; no pen-marks. Not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Thus a tidy book in presentable condition.

Laid in is a 1967 newspaper article about Dr. Sutton's concerns for wildlife in the aftermath of Rachel Carson's Silent Spring.
