Issar ( - 2004) was the author of highly-lauded books on the architectural heritage of Bangalore and Mysore cities--THE CITY BEAUTIFUL and THE ROYAL CITY. Issar, ever an admirer of Bangalore's blossoms, was hesitant to embark on BLOSSOMS OF BANGALORE because of his admitted "floral illiteracy". It needed a little goading before he started work on a book which, he hoped, would improve his own knowledge of the flowering trees of Bangalore and bring out the "poet-painter's vision" which put them there: a book which would delight the eye besides being a handy reference volume for the non-botanist "florophile".
